If you have read any of the other articles that I have written, you will notice that there has been quite a few that have been dietary or food related. This, as I have explained in the past, is because I have struggled with body fat all of my life. This is not to say that I have been fat all my life; but I have had, because of my genetics, been stumped when it comes to how to get rid of the excess body fat that I have. There is that "Ol’ Male Spear Tire" that I have had to contend with since the inception of puberty.
I have tried to walk, jog, and aerobicize my dear friend away, yet to no avail. I have lifted weights until sore and put up with all kinds of diets to try to release the dreaded spear tire into oblivion, yet the little bugger seems to hang on for dear life. I have promised to the readers that when I found out the "ancient secrets" to body fat loss, I would share it with you all for free on this website. That day, sadly, has not yet arrived, but below is a list of dietary guidelines that have helped to keep the apple shape at bay.
I would like to just state to every reader out there (all two of you), that the trendy diet craze that is so popular today (high protein, high fat), does not seem to be safe. I only talk of this as an individual and with only my personal experience to back me up. I am not a doctor, but I must state that after being on a bunch of diets that expound the benefits of high protein, high fat, I have never felt lousier in my whole life. I have felt deprived and depressed, bloated and bored, out of breath and out of my mind. So if you are thinking of going on one of those radical diets because you are tired of the way you look, my advice to you would be: please reconsider! So without further ado, the list of non-scientific, yet sane suggestions to try to rid the world of the insanity of excess body fat...
Dante’s Dietary Guidelines
1) Try to get more lean protein in your diet; especially plant protein. (and no, that does not mean eating only protein and eating it by the truck load).
2) Try to eat more food with less calories (more grams of food per calorie). Calorie dense food will cause you to gain weight, in the way of body fat. Use calorie dense food like treats and have them only occasionally to keep your sanity.
3) Don't neglect "good fats" such as: flaxseed oil, extra virgin olive oil and coconut oil. However, excessive fats will cause you to gain body fat in the internal organs and the inner regions of your body (too much fat seems to fill and somewhat block the intestines also), while excessive sugar will cause you to gain fat under your epidermis (skin) and make you look flabby. Overdoing fats will lead to less food and greater calorie density. Even though we need good fats, we also need a good balance.
Just a little note here: this is something that I have noticed first hand in examining my body throughout the different diets that I have been on.
4) Stay away from processed foods as much as possible; especially processed carbs. and processed fats. Processed carbs are quickly absorbed into the body and raise the blood sugar. Processed fats and oils are treated with chemicals and heat and are just plain poison.
5) Take in as little refined sugar and carbs. as possible. They will spike your blood sugar and force your body to store fat when consumed.
6) Fiber good! Get as much of it as you can.
